It was a beautiful evening so spent a little time sitting on the deck watching
the backyard, feeders and pond. The regulars were well represented with
Chickadees, Titmice, Cardinals, Goldfinches, Doves, Jays all coming in to the
feeders and down to the pond repeatedly. Then passing appearances for the
Nuthatch, Carolina Wren, Grackles, House Finch, Red-bellied Woodpecker,
Chipping Sparrow, Grackles and Cowbirds. The Downy would come in for a mouthful
of suet and then fly back off to the back of the property. The Robins came in
for a drink and a bath at the pond. The House Wren was only heard. Also had
some less common visitors including a Rose-breasted Grosbeak checking out the
feeder, a Summer Tanager, Northern Parula, Yellow-rumped Warblers and
Black-throated Green Warbler checking out the pond. Finally had an Ovenbird
sneak in for a quick bath.
Love this time of year and my little patch.David LangScott County
