I accounted for all the cattle and was at the far point of the back field
circle ahead of an overcast sunrise this morning. Light was too low and birds
were too elusive for pictures, but I did eyeball a Shrike by back field pond, a
number of Swamp Sparrows and a Yellow-rumped Warbler. I momentarily caught
sight of one bird that struck me as being something unusual but the view was so
brief that I couldn’t begin to guess what it was. Only capture of my outing was
another Rose-breasted Grosbeak in our old garden plot munching on ragweed seed.
