Dear Pat and Jane...
Common Loons are one of about ten life birds for me and so after reading your
email, I dashed as quickly was safe and got over there in pouring down rain. I
spotted one right away out in the middle of the lake in pouring down rain. I
drove around a few times trying to get closer to a second one on the far side.
I parked the car in pouring down rain and got out, soaked my camera, no I have
no protector...and watched as the Loon dunked into the water. I knew that it
would be under for a bit and come up pretty far away. So standing there in the
pouring down rain, all of a sudden up it popped up and it was in great lens
distance from me. I think that I took over 150 shots of the single bird and
smiled the whole time, out in the pouring down rain. Did I mention it was
pouring down rain...hahaha you get how important it was for me to see that
bird. As I was getting ready to leave it dunked itself again and swam under
water to meet up with another Loon. Thanking you all and the people on this
list that make it possible for exciting times like this. Happy Easter to all
who celebrate this season.
