[birdky] BKY: Mammoth Cave- Wednesday and Anchorage Trail - Thursday

We birded Mammoth Cave yesterday. It was a beautiful day and the woods were
filled with bird song. The Cerulean Warbler had returned. We saw four and
heard
one or two more. We saw them at the Green Ferry and Houchens Ferry. At
Houchens
Ferry we had two Prothonotary Warblers. Other birds of interest were:
Vireos -Blue-headed, White-eyed, Red-eyed, and Yellow-throated; Wood Thrush -
heard his wonderful song, but had only fleeting glimpses of the bird; Scarlet
Tanagers, both male and female, were seen at different places. A Hermit Thrush
was still present on Joppa Ridge Road. Barred Owls were calling to each other.
Eur. Collared Doves were present just outside of the park.

Black-and-white
Ovenbird
Yellow-throated
Prairie
Black-throated Green
Parula
Worm-eating
La. Waterthrush
Carol Besse joined us on the Anchorage Trail this morning. The Blue-winged
Warbler and Yellowthroated were still there along with Parulas and Common
Yellowthroat. Other birds were Catbirds, Kingbird, Ruby-c Kinglet, White-eyed
Vireo, Orchard Oriole, a Cedar Waxwing and two Green Herons. An Osprey circled
over the trail several times.
