While mowing field yesterday, spotted a woodcock. It ran away on the ground,
then after several more passes on tractor, flew to south into woodline. I
feared to have run over next, but couldn't find one. Large rat snake also
spotted in the same area; could have been eating eggs. Area where bird was
first seen was mostly blackberry canes, now 5-7 feet tall.
