With the unsettled weather yesterday came some nice avian visitors to our slice of a yard. About 11:00am a wave of birds appeared but given the wind whipping the leaves about it was impossible to get an accurate count for each species. Highlights: Great Blue Heron flyover Great Horned Owl (duetting pair early in the morning) Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (2 juveniles working away on pear tree) Eastern Phoebe Blue-headed Vireo Winter Wren Golden and Ruby-crowned Kinglets Gray-cheeked Thrush Gray Catbird Tennessee Warbler Magnolia Warbler Black-throated Green Warbler Eastern Towhee Ben had a falcon-ish flyover (possible Merlin) late in the day but was on the phone and couldn't get to the binos fast enough for ID confirmation.
