[bcbirdclub] Unusual White-throat

I saw this bird today, at first glance it looked really dark & I didn't
know what it was? The bird showed again and I was able to get a photo.
Obviously it is a White-throated sparrow, but I've never seen one with this
much
black feathering before. I wonder if the bird is melanistic, or just looks
different because maybe it is molting?
Has anyone seen white-throated sparrows with this appearance
this time of year?
