Yesterday, I went out to take some landscape photos for a presentation I am giving to the Rotary Club this week. As I was driving up to Laurel Bed Lake I was thinking that it would be nice if a Ruffed Grouse photo op happened. Sure enough, as I drove around the lake there was a Ruffed Grouse in the road. I scrambled to get my camera out the truck window. I snapped several photos and it did not move. I drove closer and it still did not move. Finally, I pulled along side it and looked directly down on the top of it's head and asked if it was going to stay there all day. I quess at that point it realized that freeze in place was not working and it ambled on into the woods. I also saw 2 Ruddy Ducks among 25 Lesser Scaups on the lake. later, at the Pinnacle I was able to get close looks at an Eastern Phoebe and a Louisiana Waterthrush.
