Here's a couple of digiscoped pics of the pair of Purple Finches that showed up
this morning. The female is just to the left of the pole feeding with the Pine
Siskins. Notice the white stripe above her eye. This is one of the most
reliable marks for telling the difference between female House and Purple
Finches. The photo of the male shows a couple of marks that show differences
between the two species. The pale breast and notched tail are both marks of a
Purple Finch.
