The little male House Wren that showed up here a few days ago, was staying in
our field and singing near a couple of bluebird nest boxes several hundred feet
from our house. Today it came down to our yard and started checking out the
boxes in that area. It finally settled on one (in the photo) beside our yard
pond. After entering and exiting the box several times it began cleaning out
the box, as if it is preparing to build a nest. A few years ago one came in and
built a nest, then sang and sang in hopes of attracting a female, but no female
showed up, so he finally moved on. I hope that's not the case with this one.
