Hello, colleagues!
Our Spring meeting is a week from Friday -- I'm getting excited!

*If you haven't yet, please RSVP here
<https://forms.gle/PjzMkGvCQQoTv72V7>.*

Here's an updated preview of our day together:

Optional breakfast will start at 8:30 and the meeting will begin at 9
at *French
American International School in San Francisco* (map
<https://maps.app.goo.gl/9DEf4QJ8icM7go7Q9>) on April 26th.

Our host Kathleen Esling will share a bit about French American
International School's library program, and we'll end the day with an
optional tour of the campus. Break out sessions lead by BAISL members will
feature successful programs for supporting a culture of reading in your
school. We will consider models for deepening our professional learning
community in the 2024-25 school year. We'll try table talks on hot topics,
and hear a few booktalks from the world's best booktalkers -- us! You're
welcom to bring things for a share table with  -- think of it as a little
free library! I always seem to have a few duplicate copies lying around...

News 📸:
To supplement our panel discussion focused on teaching *news literacy and
misinformation* in 2024, we will welcome a guest speaker. Neil Chase is the
Chief Executive Officer at CalMatters <https://calmatters.org/>, a
nonpartisan, nonprofit news organization with a mission "to improve
California’s democracy by making its government more transparent and
accountable and giving Californians the information they need to understand
and engage with that government." In the context of information overload
and the overwhelming impact of international conflicts, I am hopeful that
quality local journalism can help our students feel empowered to engage
directly in their own communities.

Our meetings are always rich in community and collaboration -- and
delicious food! Please click this link to RSVP
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeZpfthuuqjObvb7khQ6tmTZPfT0YIdLGqFCBDkgWslb59YFg/viewform?usp=sf_link>,
even if it's a maybe. Feel free to email if you have any questions or
suggestions.

*I'll reach out again next week with details on parking, etc. *
Hope to see you soon!
