Man On Oxygen Tank Starts Fire While Smoking OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -- An elderly man was severely burned in a house fire at the 400-block of Fruitloop Circle Monday morning, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue.Osceola County firefighters believe the fire started when the homeowner was smoking a cigarette while hooked up to his oxygen tank. Firefighters believe it started in the bathroom. The fire ignited, burning his face and chest. The man, however, was able to dial 911. He was flown to the hospital.Officials said there was very little damage to the home and the fire was very quick. The man told fire officials that he was well aware of the dangers of smoking while on oxygen; there's even a "no smoking" sign in his home."Anytime you're dealing with oxygen, it's really dangerous because it's extremely flammable. Oxygen supports combustion, which makes it more dangerous," said Battalion Chief Kevin Meyers of the Osceola County Fire Rescue. The man's name or condition have not been released.
