There are several astronomical items here at the Arizona Science Center that
I wanted to share with everyone:

* Our Adults' Night Out speaker on May 7 will be Fulvio Melia, who recently
spoke at SAC. He will explore new findings that support some of Einstein's
predictions and provide new insights into the black hole at the center of
our galaxy. Admission to the Science Center that evening (and the talk)
will be free.

* We're continuing our informal Adult Astronomy classes during Adults' Night
Out. Registration for one class: $20 /$10 (members). Classes will be
followed by telescope observations, weather permitting. Classes begin at
6:30 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.
- February 6 Crash-Course on Constellations: Some of the mythological
background on the night sky, and modern techniques for finding the
constellations of the northern hemisphere.
- March 5 Great Balls of Fire: A look at the different types of stars and
how they evolve, from formation to destruction.
- April 2 Billions and Billions: A study of the types of clusters,
galaxies, and clusters of galaxies in our Universe.
- For more information, go to http://www.azscience.org/visit/events.html

* We've started an Astronomy Volunteer Corp. Here's an opportunity to learn
more about the planetarium and how it operates, enjoy free admission to the
Arizona Science Center, and share your love of astronomy with visitors of
all ages. You can help usher our planetarium shows, bring telescopes for
evening observing sessions at the Science Center, set up solar telescopes
during the day for a demonstration, or assist our Outreach Coordinator in a
daytime or evening astronomy program at a school. We can assign additional
duties depending on the current planetarium needs, staff time, and your own
skills and desires.
- Please email or call me for more information.

Thanks!!!
