Mars is now a bit larger than 8" in diameter, so it's not too early to begin looking at it. In poor seeing at 3:30 this morning, I took this image with the Tuocam webcam through a 10" f/5.5 and 2.5x Barlow. This results in an image scale of 0.33" per pixel (not enough!). It is a stack of the best 800 out of 1000 video frames taken at 10 fps. After some work in Registax, the image was scaled up in Photoshop. Syrtis Major and the Hellas Basin are visible. The polar cap is extremely small these days, and eluded this image. http://members.cox.net/tpolakis/astro/vid44c.jpg Tom -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
