More links below. The clouds weren't as well behaved Friday, though
there was a bit of a clear patch near the start of the animation
sequence. Perhaps because the clouds higher in the frame provided low
contrast, encoding to AVI rendered a horribly pixelated video. I found
that H.264 or MP4 were far better choices. MP4 videos, however, are
typically rejected by Firefox as being corrupted, for reasons which
still aren't clear to me after nearly an hour of chasing links. On my
computer, I also see a pronounced difference in contrast depending upon
the player. VLC, for example, doesn't do well showing the mountains and
high clouds with either video format, whereas a player named celluloid
works much better. If you're interested in viewing the animation, you
may do best to download the file then try different viewers if clicking
on the link directly doesn't work.
I'd like to claim that I had the framing nearly perfect on purpose, but
in fact I was aimed a bit farther south than intended. Had the cluster
not been obscured by clouds when it set, my error would have been
glaringly obvious.
