I see I am not the only one playing with a new Nikon CoolPix 995. I set-up a 10" SCT in my backyard in central Tucson to try it out for the first time this weekend. And while I wasn't blessed with that good of seeing the results are pretty impressive. The link below is to my best image of Jupiter, but this image is completely unprocessed, just downloaded from the camera and cropped. This is afocal through an 8mm radian on a 10" 2.5m SCT. The camera is obviously doing a bit of processing, particularly scaling the image, yes those are the moons beside the planet. http://www.tucsonastronomy.org/dropbox/DSCN0167.jpg This will definitely require more experimentation, particularly into the MANY changes in settings allowed by the camera.
