Subject: [AZ-Observing] Some CCD Images

Happy New Year everybody!!
Here are some images I took in November and December from Vekol Road.

Here's a widefield shot of M42 & vicinity:

Jay McNeil was kind enough to list some of the more obscure objects that =
can be seen in the picture:

The reflection nebula Vdb 42 - the small bluish reflection=20
nebula around the ~8th mag star at the top near center=20
Wolf's Smoke Ring at bottom near center
Herbig-Haro 1&2 complex at the far right.

Here's the luminance (greyscale) version of the same picture. In =
tri-color imaging you typically create a greyscale image separately from =
a color image and then lay the greyscale image as a luminace layer over =
the color for the final picture. I toned down the brightness for the =
color version because I thought it made the colors looked washed out.

Here's NGC 253, the Sculptor Galaxy:

IC 1396 taken through an H alpha filter:

NGC 1499 - The California Nebula - taken through an H alpha filter:

I processed this photo to emphasize the wispy details in the clouds.

Thanks for looking!!
