SAC PUBLIC STAR PARTY - The Saguaro Astronomy Club of Phoenix and the Glendale Parks and Recreation Department will host the 2006 SAC Fall Public Star Party Saturday October 28, from 5:30 to 9:30 PM at Thunderbird Park. We will have a variety of telescopes available for public viewing. We will be showing various astronomical objects including the Moon, the Comet, and selected Deep Sky Wonders. Please join us for a night under the stars! Club members and others with telescopes, drive all the way in to the parking area. Don't forget a stepstool for the little ones. Sunset is at 5:40 PM. Come early. It is recommended to bring plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated. The Moon will be waxing towards first quarter with 37% illuminated. The main entrance to the Park is on 59th Avenue between Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak Rd. Go 1.5 mi. north of the 101 on 59th Avenue. Follow the signs in the park to the event, which is free. Free parking is available, and shuttles will bring participants to the telescope observing area. Disabled-access restroom facilities are available.
