I Just spoke with Chad, head Tonto forest ranger for the Globe area.  The
Picketpost parking lot is closed--the trails are open for hikers.  The
access road to Picketpost is open and there is not problem setting up at one
of spots along Saddleridge Trail, the road in to Picketpost.  Chad also
suggested spots on the other side of Hwy 60 between 60 and Hewett Station
road.

With the new moon approaching, where one can go over the weekend to observe?
Is camping on federal land possible? What about other places we frequently
use?
