Last night I took my 13.1" DOB to Eagle Ridge Elementary School for
their Science Fair. Jack Jones and a couple of other astronomers were
there. The sky was pretty clouded over, but turned out not too bad. I
had a steady stream of 10 - 15 kids and parents for nearly an hour an
a half lined up to take a look.

We started off looking at Venus. A brilliant half moon appearance.
Then a brief look at Mars (very tiny now). I handed out some Mar
Maps. Saturn peeked through the clouds as it rose in the east.
Everyone was pleased with Saturn. Toward the end I swung the scope up
at M42. Even through clouds it still looked impressive.

Even though it was a poor night, it turned out great with many happy
and I hope impressed young kids. Plus I had a great time.
