Curious about locating new dark sky sites? Here's a way to combine a couple of
tools to assist you in that quest for the closest dark site. This can be
accomplished by overlaying the Clear Sky Clock light pollution maps onto the
Google Earth map for any particular location. One CSC map will overlay a pretty
wide geographic area.
If you haven't done so yet, first download and install Google Earth. Then
choose the Clear Sky Clock of your choice. Click on the 'Light Pollution map'
(in Nifty Links, just below the clock). Just above the light pollution map
you'll see small text that reads: 'get this map as a Google Earth image
overlay'. Click it and the image will be overlayed on top of the corresponding
area in Google Earth. It will show up in the sidebar under Temporary Places.
Right click on that and select Save into My Places which to save it for future
sessions.

Cool, huh?
