Hi Bernard, another good one. I made it full size to look closely, and the
stars are nice and sharp all the way out to the corners. I also like the
crop, or the amount of surrounding space that you included around NGC300.
It fames it nicely, but it allows for inclusion of the full extent of the
galaxy. The arms are diffuse and from where they apparently "end" you can
still see a trail of stars and gas being dragged behind. I think that alone
makes this a unique image. The galactic center shows really well and the
dust lanes and spiral shape are nice and clear almost all the way in to the
core.
Sharp, and clear enough to show both the detail and the soft gas and dust in
those two mentioned areas. My quick count was about 30 other galaxies in
the background which adds depth (obviously) and really conveys a feeling of
how NGC 300 floats along in an enormous section of space. Really nice job.
I also appreciate that you are adding more detailed comments when you send
out your images. That provides context and a lot of interest to the image
itself. Perfect subtitles for your coffee table book...

Hi,
This is an image of NGC 300. It is a spiral galaxy about 6 million light
years away in the constellation Sculptor. It is one of the closest galaxies
to the Local Group and lies between the Local Group and the Sculptor galaxy.
It is thought to be gravitationally bound to NGC 55. At about 94,000 light
years in diameter, it is slightly smaller than the Milky Way.
