Jenn and I left the Getty Villa in Los Angeles just after sunset without knowing about the show in the west. These four images were taken from the beach near the Villa. http://www.pbase.com/polakis/image/107568782 http://www.pbase.com/polakis/image/107568787 http://www.pbase.com/polakis/image/107568789 http://www.pbase.com/polakis/image/107568792 It was interesting to watch the three bodies set over the ocean horizon. Mercury disappeared from view before setting, but Jupiter was visible right down to the horizon. There were multiple "false settings" of Jupiter, some of which lasted many seconds, apparently due to crests and troughs of waves. We were at the Museum of Contemporary Art the previous evening. This shot shows only Venus over the tallest buildings in downtown L.A., looking straight down Grand Ave. The scene should look better tomorrow night when the moon joins Venus -- just a heads-up for anybody who wants to drive into downtown L.A. during rush hour to photograph it. http://www.pbase.com/polakis/image/107568775 Tom -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
