Benson, AZ 85602 hm ph: 520-586-2244 Bernie, It looks like you got caught by the hazy skies and turbulent seeing that we've been experiencing here in southern AZ this past week or so; your stars appear to be a bit more bloated and fuzzy than usual, but the guiding is impeccable. You didn't do too badly with the bright core, and actually it seems like you need a longer exposure to bring out the external ring. I just looked at M94 and a few of the other interesting galaxies in Canes Venatici the other night before the high, thin clouds of late took over. This one was a real challenge and a learning experience. The core was completely blown out with regular exposure lengths, so I had to merge in some 30 second exposures of the core. Even with that the RGB image was still quite saturated and hence while the core has some detail, it does not have much color. Comments and suggestions welcomed. http://www.azstarman.net/M94.htm Bernard -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
