Jenn and I spent a nice Tuesday night at the Salome Emergency Airfield, which
would typically be populated by a number of other observers at the Messier
Marathon or All-Arizona Star Party. Here's a photo taken just before sunset
with the Eagle Tail Mountains forming the backdrop. Long live long lenses!

This is one photo from a sequence taken during morning twilight that captures
Mercury and Venus at lower left, and a bright meteor left of center. The whole
Teapot of Sagittarius is now (barely) up in a dark sky.

A couple time-lapse sequences, the first being the setting of the crescent
moon, 34 hours past New. I let the camera do auto-exposures with a zoom lens
at 84mm, f/4, and ISO 200. Later exposures are longer, and begin to show some
trailing. The pilot of the airplane did me a solid, and maneuvered to avoid
passing in front of the moon.

Late in the evening, I pointed the camera northward to show Cassiopeia's
approach to the horizon as the vehicles on I-10 move along. These are
30-second exposures at ISO 1600 with a 17mm lens at f/4. Late in the video,
Alpha Cassiopeiae provides a nice demonstration of a grazing occultation.
