Sounds like a fantastic idea. Unfortunately due to poorly timed grandkid
trips I have had a hard time making it to meetings as regularly as I would
like. I would love to be involved in a project like this for the learning
experience and hope scheduling lines up a bit better to help.

Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone is interested in starting an 8 inch
mirror-making project at our regular meetings, the next being on Feb 4th.
We could start from scratch using a mirror kit I got from Dan Heim some
years ago. The goal could be to make a dual use scope: an f/4 Newt with a
flip mirror diagonal making it an f/16 Cass. We could do this during our
regular monthly meetings using my grinding machine, which will limit the
amount of elbow grease. One person would tend to the machine.
Unfortunately it will make some noise. OR, we could make something larger
like a 10 or 12 inch but we'd need to buy some glass.
