I have the mentioned autoguider that is sold as compatible with the 50mm guide
scope. I can’t figure out how to get the StarShoot to be in focus.
I’ve tried using a 26mm eyepiece focused on a tree light as far away as I can
see. That I can focus but just before I reach the end of the focuser travel.
When I put the StarShoot in place of the eyepiece, it’s not in focus and no
amount of adjustment will bring it into focus.
I’ve noticed that there’s quite a bit of backlash in the focus ring on the
guide scope when reversing directions. About a third of a turn before it starts
changing the focus. Is that normal?
If anyone has a procedure for setting up the autoguider with the guide scope
for the first time that might work with my combo, I’d love to hear about it! I
had planned on bringing everything to the “Non-existent ATM meeting” tonight
but that got cancelled. :-) (Hi Paul!) I’d love to get this figured out before
the next ATM meeting.
