Has anyone else been observing comet C/2002 V1(NEAT)? I have observed it over the course of the past several nights at Vekol Ranch. This comet is currently in Pisces and very easy to locate high in the evening sky. This is a nice comet and well worth a look. Object coordinates at this moment are: RA: 01h 05m 26.5s Dec: +12°58'38" RA: 01h 05m 17.0s Dec: +12°57'40" (Epoch 2000) "The Sky" program lists it at mag 12.4 (as of this evening) but this is clearly inaccurate as it appears more like a magnitude 8+ object.. The comet sports a relatively bright coma of 10'-15' or so in diameter. There are many observations of this comet posted at http://encke.jpl.nasa.gov/RecentObs.html#02V1 several of which mention the presence of a tail. I have not detected a tail and would be curious to know if anyone else on this list has... -Mike -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
