If this is relative to the LED lighting upgrades for Phoenix, I recently
received this back from the office of my city councilman.
########
Dear Mr. Schwimer,
Thank you for your comments related to the City of Phoenix’s efforts in
converting streetlights to LED. Councilman Waring and other council members
are very much aware of the discussions related to dark skies and asked if I
could respond in regard to the next steps being taken by staff. We will be
researching this topic extensively over the next 6 months and have hired a
consultant to assist with the analysis. Staff are currently planning to
recommend, that when we get to the stage of issuing an RFP, all proposers must
provide details for both 2700K-3000K fixtures as well as the 4000K fixtures in
order to provide council members with the best information available before
deciding our path forward. It will likely be the late fall before this is
brought back to city council.
Thank you again for this information, and if you did need further
clarification, please feel free to call or email me.

Hello, John.
I am sending this notice to the chat lines a lot of us in Arizona use. Folks
from EVAC and other clubs will see this too.
In the meantime, I'll do what I can with the time I have.
Rick, will you send this to Clyde in EVAC to make certain he, and the other
EVAC people are aware of the bill?
Thanks to both of you!

Hi Kevin,
A BIG thanks from us, both for being able to make an in-person visit to drop
off your correspondence as well as in informing the Saguaro Club. Do you, by
chance, have any contacts with EVAC or the Superstition Mountain group? I’m
trying to figure out how best to reach folks in the local amateur astronomy
community in the greater Phoenix area.
Time is of the essence. The bill passed the House majority caucus yesterday,
and will probably go to the Committee of the Whole before the end of the week.
That’s the last stop in the House before a floor vote. We may not be able to
make a dent now, but the bill still has to go through the Senate and all we
need to do there is peel off a couple of GOP Senators to kill it.
Again, thanks for your help.
Best regards,
John
