Glad the skies cleared up there. We had a similar situation at Oracle
State Park. They had an astrophotography class during the afternoon, then a
live cover band for a couple of hours, and we had 3 scopes from the
Saddlebrooke club and 3 from TAAA scheduled for night observing until 8:30 PM.
The
sky was very changeable, mostly clouds about 80% of the sky. At sunset,
about 60% coverage scared away one scope who skipped his sixty mile drive,
and all but about five visitors. But within about 25 minutes of sunset the
sky opened up. We had visitors stay until almost 10 PM; some were texting
friends to get out there. Ended up with about fifty visitors, five scopes,
and a great night.
