have now been posted at http://iota.jhuapl.edu/AZoccs.htm - thanks, Wayne ;
Thomas, for the updates through Novober. The updated .pdf of "Our" events (and
other events of note) is on the Web site and is also attached. The eta Cap
lunar occultation will be visible throughout the w. USA, the brightest star
occulted by the Moon this month, with the disappearance near the center of the
Moon's dark limb at 11:42pm MST this evening in the Phoenix area, but times
just a few min. different for others across AZ. The Moon's altitude will be 19
deg. in the southwest (azimuth 229 deg.).
Then tomorrow evening, at 9:29pm MST, there will be an occultation, for up to
20s (so visual timings may be OK), of a 10.0-mag. star in Aquarius by the 72km
asteroid (380) Fiducia for observers south of (but maybe over) Tucson. The
predicted n. limit is between Sahuarita and Green Valley, but it could be over
Tucson (1-sigma n. shift, very possible), so observers throughout s. AZ,
including Tucscon, are encouraged to try it. The star is at J2000 RA 22h 47m
15.9s, Dec: -17d 49' 56", 1.3 deg. s.w. of 3rd-mag. delta Aquarii and about 20'
south of a 7th-mag. double star; finder charts of different scales and other
event details are at
http://www.asteroidoccultation.com/2019_10/1009_380_61700.htm . The altitude ;
will be about 40 deg. high in the south, south of Tucson. A detailed path map
is at . If you plan to observe it, please let me or Occult Watcher know so that
we don't duplicate your chord. Good luck with your observations.
The attached file has updates for 3 events in late November that are not yet
posted on the Web site.
