atw: Word 2002/2003 questions

Hello everyone,
I have recently started using Word 2002 and have discovered a couple of
annoyances that I can't seem to solve.
When I insert a picture from a file:
1. Word insists on displaying thumbnails rather than a list of files. I
cannot find an option to change this setting permanently. (I can change it
just for this one insertion using the Tool menu on the Insert Picture
dialog).
2. When I try to insert a subsequent picture, Word "helpfully" returns me
to the folder set up as the default file location for clipart, instead of
the last location I inserted a picture from.
Can anyone help? I am sure the answers are simple, but if they are, they
are very well hidden!
