As you should know by now, the ASTC AGM is upon us. If you are a member, please
attend.It will not take long.
Are you nominating for the Committee? Please consider it.Being part of the
Committee does not take too much time and greatly contributesto the success of
the Society - I speak from experience. This year, I have again nominated for
President. I would liketo have my vision of two years ago come true - have the
profession of technicalcommunicator legally recognised by the Government. Last
time I ran out of timebut, with all the transition tasks now well over, I am
confident that (barringGovernment or other factors outside my control) with the
help of theCommittee, this time my vision will be easier to achieve. This
recognitionshould have a great impact on our profession, especially when it
comes to benefits, because it defines our employment classification.TechCommNZ
is trying to do the same in New Zealand.
All nominations will be available on the ASTC website verysoon after they are
received by the Committee so that you can get to know thenominees (my
nomination should be there very shortly). The website also has theforms to
nominate and, if you cannot attend in person, nominate someone to vote as your
proxy.
So, if you are a member, please attend the AGM and consider nominating for the
Committee.
