Hi Gerry - I've used and liked xv and Imagemagick. You can download xv from: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphics/XV-409.shtml ImageMagick: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/download.phpFrom memory (and I'm going back quite a few years), xv is a screen capture tool, ImageMagick does that but also is good for doing batch manipulation operations (such as converting between graphics formats, adding borders), and the GIMP is meant as a full Photoshop replacement.
