Thanks Bede.
I’d used that site previously and that was the first place I looked for current
information.

I found a small number of Australian sites that publish average salary rates
for the IT sector, including Technical Writers, but in my opinion the rates
published are way below average.

Of course these don’t show any variations for education, experience, skills,
length of service etc., or for roles other than “Technical Writer”, such as
“Senior Technical Writer”.

Perhaps my expectations are out of touch with reality. If I was looking for
work now and accepting an average salary I would be reducing my current salary
by at least 30%.
