Yeah my experience with X3 was you import and create from the import an entire base line help system. I cannot tell you what it did to FrameMaker files, although it did a good job with word files (I would hazard a guess at describing it as an 'excellent' job but won't lay a reputation on that). You then output from RH, using it as a form of single source software. I never tried that either, although it was good enough to probably do a reasonable job. I think we had a demo version which had cut down output etc. I'm not sure, in any case, we purchased X3 soon after. -----Original Message----- From: austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Stuart Burnfield Sent: Tuesday, 10 August 2004 9:36 PM To: Austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: atw: Re: RoboHelp for FrameMaker Hi Warren - Thanks for your suggestion. Am I right in thinking that with RHFM you maintain the content (and mapping rules?) in Frame and push it out to a help system as required, whereas with RH you do a one-off import from Frame then maintain and output the help system from there? The client already has one RHFM licence (it's being used by their staff TW) so I expect they'll want to keep using it till it becomes problematic for some reason. This really isn't a big job so I can't justify shelling out ~$1500 for RH Office from my own pocket. That's why I'm hoping to pick up a second-hand copy of RHFM. Can you download a demo version of X5? ************************************************** To post a message to austechwriter, send the message to austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe to austechwriter, send a message to austechwriter-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "subscribe" in the Subject field.
