Hi Craig

Do a search for "pop-ups in HTML" - there should be a lot of solutions
around, many of which may use JavaScript. If you can find a way to put
the text into a .JS file then you can store it separately and reference
it as many times as you like. (Of course, tools like AuthorIT do this
re-usability stuff very easily...)

I wrote something on popups in HTML some years back, so the solutions I
offered then may not work with later ('more secure'!!) versions of IE,
but take a look anyway at: http://www.cybertext.com.au/tips_HTML.htm

Hope this helps

Rhonda

Subject: atw: Re-use text between CHM topics?

In a CHM file, is there a way I can display a context-sensitive
(plain-text) popup when the user clicks on a link in an HTML topic?=20

Alternatively, is there a way I can re-use text between topics? (I
really don't want to copy-and-paste and then have ongoing maintenance
issues.)

A colleague suggested using <!--#Include file=3D"example.txt"--> in an
HTML topic, but the help compiler just ignored that.

I'm just using the Microsoft Help Compiler Workshop because the project
is tiny, but I also have RoboHTML 2000.=20

[P.S. Sharing text between topics was a breeze in WinHelp, even when you
just used Word and the help compiler. Maybe it's just me, but help
seemed to take several steps _backwards_ when CHMs were introduced!
Thank goodness Microsoft dumped them!]

Thanks in advance,
Craig
