BTW - given the use of analogy/metaphor is instinctive, so the properties and 
methods in analogy/metaphor dynamics should be learnt. That learning comes in 
the form of understanding the properties and methods of recursion of a 
dichotomy - in this particular case the dichotomy of black-hole/white-hole.

(generic qualities of:

Contractive wholeness - black hole - integrating (pull towards)
Expansive wholeness - white hole - differentiating (push away)

...and so dev/null is another label for contractive wholeness etc. but in its 
competitive form ;-)

)

The recursion will give you a spectrum of categories usable as sources of 
analogy/metaphor in describing whatever you like.
