OK. That should not be the problem.
I'ld next look at what else is running - you know Ctrl+Alt+Del, etc.
There may be some applications in your Start menu that you could shift to 
manual startup - generate another Start folder called by a different name, 
that you can recognise easily when you want to access those items - or 
put them on your Quick Launch toolbar, or even just on your desktop.
