Dear Asialex members,

Oxford University Press has recently launched the Oxford Global Languages
initiative<http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/words/oxfordlanguages> (OGL), a
project that aims to capture and preserve digital resources for over 100
languages, helping to enable use and communication.
OGL will inspire communities worldwide and provide them with freely available
language resources.

Each language will have dedicated websites, the Living Dictionaries, and one of
the next languages to be launched will be Malay.

In preparation for this, there are two roles for which we are looking for Malay
speakers based in Malaysia:

Language Managers - a permanent part-time freelancer who will help us manage
the daily language site activity.
As a Language Manager, you will help grow the community, engage it, and
moderate activity. You need to be friendly, enthusiastic, and comfortable with
digital technology.
You will need commit from 10h to 20h per week but these are flexible, and
training is provided.
This would suit a masters or PhD student of a language related discipline, or
a language practitioner able to commit from 10 to 20 hours every week (but
these are flexible).

Language Champions - volunteer advisors and community advocates with expertise
in the language, who can participate as much or as little as they wish, with no
time commitment.
As a Language Champion, who will provide strategic advice and support the
development of language content, helping support community growth. You will
also be the voice of the native speaker, representing the people using the
language, and helping us promote OGL.
You will be part of a growing network, able to quickly and easily contact
linguists, academics, and other language professionals and enthusiasts.
This would suit academics or people involved with language research.

I am happy to provide more information about the two roles, and would be happy
to arrange for a phone call for an informal chat about any of them to those
interested.
If any of these roles interests you, please get in touch.

With kind regards,
Simone
