Dear Colleagues,

The BD2K Initiative is pleased to announce a collection of RFAs with upcoming
receipt dates that aim to train a workforce able to take full advantage of Big
Data. Together the following 10 RFAs reach a diverse audience across career
levels and scientific foci.

  * Predoctoral training programs to prepare students to develop new methods
and tools
(RFA-HG-14-004<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-004.html>,

RFA-HG-14-005<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-005.html>,
RFA-HG-14-006<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-006.html>)

  * Career awards to support MDs, PhDs, and MD/PhDs to develop new methods
and tools
(RFA-HG-14-007<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-007.html>)

  * Short courses to provide opportunities for individuals at all career
levels to acquire new skills needed to utilize biomedical Big Data Science
(RFA-HG-14-008<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-008.html>)

  * Open educational resources for use directly by a general audience
(RFA-HG-14-009<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-14-009.html>)
or by librarians to teach others
(RFA-LM-15-001<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-LM-15-001.html>,
 RFA-LM-15-002<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-LM-15-002.html>)

  * Curriculum development and research experiences for undergraduates, with
the purpose of enhancing diversity
(RFA-MD-15-005<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-MD-15-005.html>)

In addition to the programs and projects that will be supported through the
RFAs listed above, applications are being solicited for a Training Coordinating
Center
(RFA-ES-15-004<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-ES-15-004.html>).
  This coordinating center will:

• Coordinate across the BD2K Training Consortium to enable the exchange
of ideas and best practices about training in the data sciences, both within
the BD2K Training Consortium and in the broader biomedical research community.
• Facilitate the discovery, access, and citation of educational resources
through the development of a living educational resource discovery index
(ERuDIte).
• Personalize the discovery of biomedical data science educational
resources.
• Facilitate outreach and engage with the data science training community
to identify and hold relevant workshops.
• Facilitate and support biomedical research training collaborations
through short-term rotations into biomedical data science labs.
• Evaluate supported activities.

More information about these RFAs, including abstracts of previously funded
grants, can be found on the BD2K website<http://bd2k.nih.gov/>. Questions for
any of the FOAs may be sent to
