Галерия Сариев участва на VIENNAFAIR с подкрепата на Erste Group и
съдействието на Българския Културен Институт “Дом Витгенщайн”, Виена
VIENNAFAIR e панаирът за съвременно изкуство, концентриран върху
страните от Централна и Източна Европа. На VIENNAFAIR 2011 участват над
125 галерии от Източна, Централна и Западна Европа, Мексико и
Обединените Арабски Емирства. Специален акцент на изложението е арт
сцената на Истанбул.
На първото си участие на международно изложение Галерия Сариев има
удоволствието да представи Правдолюб Иванов - един от най-известните и
наложили се автори в съвременното българско изкуство.
Правдолюб Иванов e роден през 1964 в Пловдив. Живее и работи в София.
Завършил е Национална Художествена Академия, София, България, където
днес е преподавател. От 1995 година е член-основател на Институт за
Съвременно Изкуство – София. Правдолюб Иванов има сериозно участие на
международната арт-сцена. През 2007 година заедно с Иван Мудов и Стефан
Николаев представят България в кураторския проект на Весела Ножарова
„Място, на което не си бил преди” на 52-то Венецианско биенале. Участник
е в 4-то Истанбулско биенале през 1995; в 14-то биенале Сидни, Австралия
през 2004; в 4-то Берлинско биенале през 2006 година.
В есето „Полет над релефа на значенията” посветено на работата на
Правдолюб Иванов и поместено в българския каталог за 52-то Венецианско
Биенале, кураторът и критик Яра Бубнова отбелязва: “«Герои» на
инсталациите, обектите, рисунките и фотографиите на Правдолюб Иванов са
най-често съвсем обикновени предмети, с които сме всекидневно заедно,
или типични ситуации, в които всеки е способен да се разпознае.
Интересът на художника, за сметка на боите и четките, към лесно достъпни
и нетипични за традиционното изкуство материали или намерени обекти, се
дължи вероятно както на реакция спрямо консервативното обучение, така и
на внимателното му любопитство спрямо обкръжаващия ни свят, в който
произведеното от човека може да притежава не само потребителски функции.
Прочутото изречение на граф де Лотреамон “Красиво като случайната среща
между шевна машина и чадър върху хирургическа маса” Comte de Lautreamont
"Beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella
on a dissecting table." изглежда се отнася и за работите на Правдолюб
Иванов, особено поради факта, че «срещите», които художникът организира
в работите си, винаги протичат забавно. Той разкрива вниманието си към
«скрития живот на вещите», усета си да оползотвори потенциала на подобни
обекти, да го извади на светло чрез пренареждане на детайли и различно
сглобяване на съставящи елементи. Художникът съумява да
де-контекстуализира привичното им съществуване и да изгради други
обстоятелства, които подпомагат връзката му със зрителя.”
Паралелно със самостоятелното представяне от Галерия Сариев на
VIENNAFAIR 2011 между 12 – 15 май 2011 Правдолюб Иванов ще вземе участие
в основния съпътстващ проект на панаира – “Curated by”. Авторът ще бъде
представен в изложби в галериите Кринцингер (куратор Рене Блок) и
Галерия Дана Чаркази (куратор Яра Бубнова).

Sariev Gallery participates at VIENNAFAIR with the support of Erste
Group and with the cooperation of the Bulgarian Culture Institute “Haus
Wittgenstein”, Vienna
VIENNAFAIR is the contemporary art fair focused on countries from
Central and South-Eastern Europe. More than 125 galleries from Eastern,
Central and Western Europe, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates will
take part in this year’s edition of the fair. A special focus at the
“VIENNAFAIR 2011” will be the art scene in Istanbul.
For its first participation into an international art fair Sariev
Gallery has the pleasure to present Pravdoliub Ivanov – one of the most
well-known and largely recognized artists in Bulgarian contemporary art.
Pravdoliub Ivanov was born in 1964 in Plovdiv. Lives and works in Sofia.
He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia, Bulgaria,
where he teaches now. Since 1995, he is a Founding Member of the
Institute of Contemporary Art – Sofia. Pravdoliub Ivanov has a strong
presence at the international art scene. In 2007, he is one of the three
artists (with Ivan Moudov and Stefan Nikolaev) who presented Bulgaria in
Vessela Nozharova’s curatorial project ‘A Place You Have Never Been
Before” at the 52nd Venice Biennial. He participated as well in the 4th
Istanbul Biennial in 1995, in the 14th Sydney Biennial, Australia in
2004, in the 4th Berlin Biennial in 2006.
In the essay “A Flight Over the Relief Map of Meanings” dedicated to
Pravdoliub Ivanov’s work and published in the Bulgarian catalogue for
the 52nd Venice Biennial, the curator and art critic Yara Boubnova
notes: “The “characters” in the installations, the objects, the
drawings, and the photographs of Pravdoliub Ivanov are most often the
very ordinary objects that are with us daily or the typical situations
where everyone can recognize his or herself. The interest of the artist
for the easy to find and atypical for art materials and/or found
objects, at the expense of paint and brush, is probably due to the
reaction to his conservative education as well as to his attentive
curiosity for the surrounding world where the man-made may possess more
then just use value. The famous sentence of Comte de Lautréamont –
"Beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella
on a dissecting table", seems to apply to the works of Pravdoliub Ivanov
as well. That’s mainly because of the fact that the “encounters”
engineered by the artist in his works are always fun to follow. He is
revealing his attention to the “hidden life of things”, his sensibility
in utilizing the potential of these things by bringing it out into the
open through rearrangement of details and different reassembling of
their composite elements. The artist manages to de-contextualize their
usual existence while constructing a different set of circumstances that
are reinforcing the links to the viewer.”
In parallel to his “solo-show” with Sariev Gallery at VIENNAFAIR 2011
between the 12th and the 15th of May 2011, Pravdoliub Ivanov will
participate in the curatorial project “Curated by”. The artist will be
presented in exhibitions at the galleries Krinzinger (curator René
Block) and Dana Charkasi (curator Yara Boubnova).
