Vom 15. Februar bis zum 7. April 2013 findet die 14. VIDEONALE im
Kunstmuseum Bonn statt. Ab sofort sind wieder alle Künstler_innen
eingeladen, sich mit Einkanal- oder Mehrkanal-Videoarbeiten für die
VIDEONALE 14 zu bewerben.
Es gibt keine thematische Einschränkung. Die eingesandten Arbeiten dürfen
jedoch nicht älter als zwei Jahre sein (entstanden nach 1.1.2010).
Die aus den Einsendungen von einer internationalen Experten-Jury
ausgewählten Werke werden in der VIDEONALE-Ausstellung im Kunstmuseum Bonn
präsentiert.
Eine internationale Preis-Jury prämiert unter den teilnehmenden Künstler
den Preisträger der VIDEONALE 14.
Bewerbungsschluss ist der 6. Juli 2012.

Die VIDEONALE
„... eines der ältesten Videokunstfestivals der Welt. Dort sind Stars genau
wie die lebendige Szene junger Videokünstler aus der ganzen Welt

Im Jahr 1984 gegründet, zählt die im zweijährigen Turnus stattfindende
VIDEONALE heute zu einem der ältesten und renommiertesten Festivals für
Videokunst weltweit. Unter ihren Teilnehmern finden sich wegweisende Namen
wie Dara Birnbaum, Lynn Hershman, Marcel Odenbach, Michael Smith, Bill
Viola u.a., und bis heute versteht sich die VIDEONALE als Festival für
sowohl junge aufstrebende als auch etablierte Positionen der nationalen und
internationalen Videokunst.
AUSSTELLUNG
Für die 14. VIDEONALE werden zwischen 40-50 Arbeiten von einer
international besetzten Experten-Jury ausgewählt und in einer
siebenwöchigen Ausstellung im Kunstmuseum Bonn präsentiert, ergänzt um eine
kuratierte Sektion mit Videoinstallationen.
FESTIVAL
Das Festivalprogramm der VIDEONALE 14 wird auch im nächsten Jahr mit
zahlreichen Veranstaltungen locken. Über das dreitägige Programm zur
Eröffnung hinaus werden auch über den Verlauf der siebenwöchigen
Ausstellung zahlreiche Vorträge, Künstlergespräche, Screenings,
Performances, Workshops und Sonderpräsentationen zu künstlerischen
Positionen stattfinden. Ein weiterer Bestandteil des Rahmenprogramms wird
zudem die VIDEONALE-Party am Eröffnungswochenende sein.
VIDEONALE ON TOUR
Im Anschluss an die Ausstellung im Kunstmuseum Bonn werden die Arbeiten der
VIDEONALE 14 als VIDEONALE ON TOUR in weiteren internationalen
Institutionen gezeigt. Arbeiten der VIDEONALE 13 waren u.a. im Rahmen des
Re:view Festivals bei der Ars Cameralis in Katowice, Polen, im Taiwan
Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), Taichung, Taiwan und in der Gallery of Modern
Art in Glasgow, Schottland zu sehen.

From 15 February to 7 April 2013 the 14th VIDEONALE will be taking place in
the Kunstmuseum Bonn. We now invite all artists to apply for VIDEONALE 14
with a single or multi-channel video work.
There are no restrictions on the subject, but the works submitted must be
not more than 2 years old, i.e. they must date from 1 Jan 2010 or later.
A jury of international experts will examine the entries and those selected
will be presented in the VIDEONALE in the Kunstmuseum Bonn.
An international prize-jury will select the winner of the VIDEONALE award
from the artists whose works are exhibited at VIDEONALE 14.
The closing date for submissions is 6 July 2012.

The VIDEONALE

Founded in 1984, the biennial VIDEONALE today counts as one of the oldest
and most renowned festivals of video art in the world. Participants include
such trend-setting artists as Dara Birnbaum, Lynn Hershman, Marcel
Odenbach, Michael Smith, Bill Viola and others. To this day VIDEONALE sees
itself as a festival of national and international video art, both for
ambitious young artists and for established artists.
EXHIBITION
At the 14th VIDEONALE between 40 and 50 works, chosen by an international
jury of experts, will be presented during a seven-week exhibition in the
Kunstmuseum Bonn. They will be supplemented by a curated section of video
installations.
FESTIVAL
The numerous events of next year’s programme are meant to tempt visitors to
VIDEONALE 14. In addition to the three-day opening programme, a large
number of lectures, discussions with artists, screenings, performances,
workshops and special presentations about artistic positions will take
place during the seven weeks of the exhibition. Another feature of the
festival programme is the VIDEONALE Party at the opening weekend.
VIDEONALE ON TOUR
Following the exhibition in the Kunstmuseum Bonn, the works displayed at
VIDEONALE 14 will be presented in other international institutions as
VIDEONALE ON TOUR. Works from VIDEONALE 13 could be seen at the Re:view
Festival at Ars Cameralis in Katowice, Poland, at the National Taiwan
Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), in Taichung, Taiwan and at the Gallery of
Modern Art Glasgow, Scotland.
