Yeah - fluorine isn't very fussy about what it bonds with, but carbon isn't
actually its favorite (compared to things like hydrogen and many of the more
reactive
metals) - fluorocarbons, relatively inert at ordinary ambient conditions, are
often dissociated at high temperatures.
Which has been discussed here quite recently, but I'm under the impression that
the XCOR testing of their composite didn't include heating the composite to the
decomposition temperature of the fluoropolymer followed by subjecting it to
impact and flammability sensitivity :)
