A DeepColor compatible VGA can help but it is not necessary. You shouldn't buy a new VGA only for this reason. You should try to use your current VGA first. (We will discuss this if you have heavy banding issues or unnatural gray scale after the calibration - with the bugfix version.) I used MS Excel 2007 but you don't have to make any graphs like those. You should use DispCalGUI, it is easier to use and it will show you the LUT curves after each calibration. Start with 255-255-255 and you will see if RGB curves cross each others or not. If they cross, you should keep the Gains at 255-255-255 If they are smooth, you should try to optimize the white balance with those gains and recalibrate your VGA LUT.
