From feedback, it seems that when installing on MSWin 8.1 (and possibly) 8.0,
you
need to temporarily disable the driver signature enforcement.
This has been very hard to test, because my Win8 test system doesn't
seem to require this. It seems to remember the driver was once installed,
despite all my attempts to purge it.
I've updated the on line docs to restore the driver signature enforcement
disabling instructions to reflect this:
