It worked nicely for that combination, after some struggling with the syntax of ccmxmake. That was on an Ubuntu system, now I'm trying to use the Eye1 Basic, another HP branded E1 Display II and a NEC 2690WUXi on Vista 64. There I have problems with the USB ports and the Eye Ones. The Argyll drivers are installed but it could be that i1Match and/or HP's Advanced Profiling System (for the Display II) interfere. The error message with Permissions settings? at the end appears. It does that too for DispcalGUI.

I would like to keep the X-Rite and HP applications installed but use ccmxmake and dispcalGUI for monitor control.
