Okay, Moving the logo.sys files seems to make
mark/release work as it should
as i dont see the windows98 text anymore. but whenever
I try to start my
packet driver after dropping to DOS it tells me
"Your program caused a divide overflow error." I have
no idea what this means
or how to fix it.
Would help if your procedures were more detailed. When you
drop to dos, isn't autoexec.bat executed?
Is packet driver in that file? Are you trying to start
driver again, or does error occur after
autoexec.bat runs?
It pains me to say this, but the computer in question seems to have suffered
from what seems to be a unrecoverable error in the BIOS. Any further discussion
would be largely pointless.
I would like to thank everyone for the huge amount of help you've given me,
I've learned a lot from this. Perhaps next time I'll do a little more research
and planning before I start tweaking my Operating System.
