Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club! Greg, 1. I have to disagree. Archive is a button already there, and it is for that purpose -- create an unsorted archive of messages you wish to keep. MOVE is also there and IMNSHO MOVE should stay where it is ... many of us (and I'm sure other people in the world) need to sort our messages by what they are about, or who they are from. Having MOVE, having the 'sticky' selected.dat so we can move messages easily in a single subject matter, is a plus I would dearly hate to loose! Let's just leave that alone, OK? 2. The GUI used for viewing messages in the trash can is exactly the same GUI as used for viewing ALL messages in folders; it has the MOVE button, but doesn't NEED the ARCHIVE button ... you've already decided it doesn't belong in the general catch-all-Archive folder. Stop and think about it ... if you want to retrieve something from Trash, it must be because you want to save it -- which requires Moving it to a specific folder -- or you want to reply to it. The GUI is different from the readmail GUI because it handles certain aspects of RESENDing mail that don't get considered in other GUI. You see, although the picture on the Trash Can is different from other mail folders, the trash can is just one more sub-directory under MAIL, and generally if people are looking at saved messages they want to do one of a few things: Move it to a different folder; reply to it; forward it; trash it. Thus there is a special GUI set up to work with files in 'folders' ... Why handle RESEND differently? Well, many of us keep those folders so the letter to the doctor which didn't get replied to can be resent, the message to glennmcc that got chomped by Cisco and had really important stuff with it so we saved it ... that needs to be resent, so the GUI that reminds you in OUTBOX that 'when you resend a message, orginal files shown should be added manually' is the same GUI that reminds you of the same thing when reading TRASH or TWEAKS or SEXY_GRL.YEH messages you've saved. <G> We don't really want any more GUIs ... believe me!! The error which occurs when you try to send trash to trash isn't fatal. It generally causes me to use the "slap on forehead, curse myself out for being a dummy ... drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr george, can't send trash to trash twice" response. And if you exit the message and check the trash can index, you'll see the message DID get sent to the trash can <G> ... just not the time you tried to send trash to the trash can. Now, perhaps I read wrong or don't understand what you're really proposing/asking for. But what I think you've said I cannot second you on. Sorry ... l.d. ==== On Tue, 16 Mar 2004 18:56:03 -0500, Greg Mayman wrote: > I know there is a team looking into needed corrections and > upgrades of CORE.EXE, but is anyone looking into upgrades of > INSIGHT.EXE? > If they are, or if it is one of the items for the TO-DO list, I > have a couple of suggestions regarding mail viewing: > 1.
