thought provoking seminar and very low price.  Even so, they have

  Marcus Borg, Sister Joan Chittister and John Dominic Crossan will come
together for a three day FAITHandReason® seminar at the First Baptist
Church of Austin, Texas, titled, MYSTICISM, EMPOWERMENT and
RESISTANCE.The three eminent scholars explore the unavoidable link
between a deep awareness of the holy and an acute sensitivity to human
injustice.
  Dr. Borg is Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at
Oregon State University. The New York Times has described him as "a
leading historical Jesus scholar of this generation." He is the author
of nine books, two of which have become best-sellers, Jesus: A New
Vision and Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time. Dr. Borg is a
frequent guest on ABC, NBC and PBS.
  Sister Joan Chittister, Benedictine Sister of Erie, Pennsylvania, is a
best-selling author and a well-known national and international
lecturer. She is founder and executive director of Benetvision: A
Resource and Research Center for Contemporary Spirituality, and past
presideant of the Conference of American Benedictine Prioresses and the
Leadership Conference of Women Religious. Sister Joan has been
recognized by universities and national organizations for her work for
justice, peace, and equality for women in Church and society.
  Dr. Crossan is Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at DePaul
University, and has written 20 books on the historical Jesus in the
last 30 years, four of which have become national religious best
sellers. He is a frequent guest on national television, most notably
ABC, PBS, MSNBC, A&E and currently, The National Geographic Channel.

and Trinity Streets, Austin, Texas. A resource and book store will be
available as well as book signing opportunities by the authors.
Cost for the entire three day seminar is $30.00 (Includes all sessions,
lunch each day and Friday night session). For those unable to attend
week day sessions, you may also attend the Friday night session and the
Saturday sessions for $20.00. Donations are accepted for seminar
scholarships.
